Israel Connections: David Nekrutman and The Jewish-Christian Covenant Relationship
Jews and Christians (including Messianic and Hebrew Roots believers) all profess faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Why, then, do we have such trouble getting along? David Nekrutman has a lot to say about that. He’s been involved in bringing these two parts of God’s covenant people together for over 20 years. “Covenant” is the operative term here. In this interview, we explore what that means, starting with David’s book, Your Sabbath Invitation, which he wrote to help Christians understand what the Sabbath is and why it is important for us.
One obstacle in building healthy relationships between Jews and Christians is the relative ignorance each has of the other. What is it that Jews do not understand about Christians? What do Christians not understand about Jews? How has that mutual misunderstanding hindered the development of healthy Jewish-Christian relations, and how do we overcome it? Improved relations between Christians and Jews requires clear thinking and discernment of truth from fiction. After two thousand years of misunderstanding and conflict, there is much reason to hope that Christians and Jews can find common ground and build relationships based on mutual respect. Concerted efforts from both sides at building Christian-Jewish relations has resulted in a world-changing support for Israel among Christians worldwide.
